How to transport and store sheet metal properly?
There are a few rules to follow to make sure that your roofing lasts for many years and doesn't cause problems during transport or storage. This way, the structure of the sheet will not be damaged and the material itself will not be deformed. Proper transport and storage of sheet metal is often one of the main requirements of the warranty, so here is a brief explanation of how to do it correctly.

Proper unloading of profiled sheet metal
It is recommended to use belt slings or a forklift with a minimum fork spacing of 150 cm. The goods must be protected from scratches and dents during unloading. Sheets must not be pulled by hand and must be carried vertically. There must be one person for every metre of sheet metal on the rail.
How long after unloading can tin be stored?
The factory packaging is for transport only. Zinc and aluminized zinc sheets can be stored in their packaging for up to 2 days after delivery, and tinplate with paint for up to 3 weeks.
How to store tinplate for longer periods of time?
For longer storage, store the tin indoors on wooden pallets at least 20 cm from the ground and with a slope of at least 3 degrees. Separate each sheet with wooden beams to ensure air circulation. Sheets stored in this way may be stored for up to 6 months from the date of manufacture. It must not be stored outdoors or in areas subject to humidity and high temperature fluctuations.

Under what conditions should sheet metal be stored?
The sheeting must not be stored near fertilisers, acids or other aggressive substances.
Proper storage of tin foil: The sheeting with the protective film must be protected against moisture. If it gets wet, remove the film as soon as possible. The tin can be stored for up to 3 months with the film on (only indoors and out of the sun). The foil must be removed before installation.
In summary
Store only in a closed, dry place, protected from moisture and sun. Failure to observe the rules will result in a shorter service life and loss of warranty. Maximum life depends on the manufacturer - always read the instructions.
